Don’t miss out on this sandwich! The BLT is already one of the best out there but could be better. This recipe elevates the classic BLT with a delicious homemade remoulade and crispy fried green tomatoes, along with perfectly cooked bacon and toasted bread.
First, prepare the Remoulade: Combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 1.5 tablespoons horseradish, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, a generous amount of fresh cracked pepper, and hot sauce (to your satisfaction) in a bowl and mix well. For the Fried Green Tomatoes: Slice green tomatoes fairly thick. Create a simple dredge station with flour, beaten egg, and panko breadcrumbs. Coat each tomato slice by dredging first in flour, then egg, then panko. Fry the coated slices at 350°F (175°C) until they are golden brown and crispy. For your bacon: Place bacon strips on a grated sheet tray and cook at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes or until desired crispness. You can use store-bought bread or make your own. To assemble the sandwich: Toast your bread slices. Spread a generous amount of the prepared remoulade on one side of each toasted bread slice. Layer with cooked bacon, bibb lettuce, and your fried green tomatoes. Add more remoulade if desired, then top with the second slice of toasted bread. Enjoy!
